Fleeting has the Spirit for Kings Stand Glory
June 12, 2008
Tuesday sees the opening day of the Royal Ascot festival and one of the most prestigious races is the Kings Stand. This is run over 6 Furlongs and will take less than a minute to complete.
There are plenty of horses with chances and luck in running, plus a good draw is essential. For me though, there can only be one horse you can back and this is Fleeting Spirit. Yes she is antepost favourite but if you look at the form you can see why. She has only been beaten twice in her short career. Once to Natagora who went onto win the 1,000 guineas and then ran an exceptional race to be 3rd in the French Derby and once to Nahoodh. Nahoodh was favourite for the Irish 1,000 guineas, but never landed a blow. She previously finished an unlucky 5th in the English 1,000 guineas.
What is more impressive about Fleeting Spirits chances is that she has accounted for Captain Gerrard who has been impressive this year and has beaten Sakhees Secret (all be it with the concession of a stone). Fleeting Spirits last race was all the more special because she had no luck in running and encountered traffic problems, but the turn of foot she shown was devastating. She drew away by 2 lengths at the end and this extra furlong will definitely suit her.
Fleeting Spirit is best price 3/1 with Paddy Power and if you open up an account today you will receive a free
