The Battle of Britain - Manchester United V Chelsea

May 20, 2008

Tomorrow night sees an all English affair with the Champions League Final in Moscow. These two sides are evenly matched with only 2 points separating them in the premier league this year. Both teams have one win a piece this season. You might think Chelsea have the slight psychological with them winning most recently, but it will be Manchester United who will have the edge with them winning the league title and having a full squad to chose from. Thankfully for Chelsea both Didier Drogba and John Terry will be fit.

Manchester United have got plenty of experience, with Paul Scholes who missed out on the final in 99 and Ryan Giggs. Edwin van Der Sar, Own Hargreaves and Patrice Evra have played in the final before. Chelsea on the other hand have Michael Ballack, Ashley Cole who played for rival Arsenal in the final 2 years ago and Juliano Belletti who scored the winner for Barcelona against Arsenal in that final. This is sure to be a very tight affair with both defences being very strong. There will be an interesting battle in the middle of the park with Essien and Makele battling it out against Scholes and probably Carrick. Where united have the advantages is the attacking players at their disposal, Tevez, Rooney, Nani and especially Ronaldo have the ability to score and turn a game in a matter of seconds. Chelsea on the other hand will be reliant on Drogba, Lampard and the vastly improved Michael Ballack.

The outstanding bet is under 2.5 goals to be scored, due to both defences being very strong. Also I think Manchester United will edge this game so a bet of 10 points on them to win at 13/8 with Betfair would seem to have a good chance. Also 30 points on under 2.5 goals at 8/15 with Betfair seems an absolute steel. If you open an account with Betfair today you will receive a free £25 bet.

It will surely be an end to end match but i do really hope that the Devils will carry their treble spirit with them and make a magnificent double this season! :)

Got something to say?
