One for this evening

May 15, 2008

I first noticed Desert Lover Ludlow 5.30 when he made his debut over this course in March. That was also a seller, he was held up that day and made some nice headway until weakening out of things over the last two flights to finish 6th. The words ‘non’ and ‘trier’ came to my mind.

He has run twice since, once in a claiming hurdle and then another seller, his finishing positions in those two races were, fifth and fourth, respectively. His starting price in those three races have been 25/1, 25/1 and 20/1 and all three occasions he was ridden by the trainer’s son.

Today he is ridden by Wayne Kavanagh, quite an experienced conditional, and he is available at the moment @ 4.8 on Betfair.

There must be a doubt about the horse’s ability to truly stay two miles, his wins on the flat coming at seven and eight furlongs, but if he is going to get the trip, it will be at somewhere tight like Ludlow on fastish ground.

I must say I was hoping for a bigger price than he is likely to be returned at today, but the fact that he is at that sort of price suggests that he won’t be far away at the finish.

Good luck!

Colin
