Ainama York 3.45?

May 14, 2008

Trained by Michael Wigham and ridden by Jamie Spencer, this animal is well worth your attention today.

Four times a winner last year, at distances ranging from 10-13 furlongs, he started this season at Ascot over a mile, ridden by Nicky Mackay. Not surprisingly he went off at 33/1, and was beaten 43 lengths behind the winner, Bankable.

Last Friday he turned up at Chester for a 12 furlong race and with Jamie Spencer jocked-up. He was well-supported for this Chester race and was sent off the 4/1 favourite. Sadly for his supporters the ride he recieved can be described as a “Spencer Special”. It is rides like this that have got him the nickname ‘Frank’ by those eloquent folk who frequent the Betfair Forum.

I quote the Racing Post analysis : “Ainama had come in for plenty of support in the run up to the race. His supporters may not have been pleased with what they saw, as he found all the trouble going before flashing home”, and the ‘Comments in Running’ : “Ainama slowly into stride, held up, not clear run well over 2f out, headway and switched right over 1f out, ran on strongly inside final furlong, gaining at finish.”

Spencer is due to ride again today, the trip is 12 furlongs again, and he is available on Betfair @ 3.4.

Will Jamie redeem himself?…….or will we be put away?

I leave you to ponder that!

Colin
