One to WATCH at Lingfield this afternoon.
May 10, 2008
As you can see from my pathetic attempt to point you in the direction of an each-way wager at Nottingham yesterday, I tend not to go for the obvious.
Obviously this results in a lot of losing bets but when the long-shot does come in, one can forget the runs like yesterday.
I must stress that the horse I am going to point out today is not a suggested bet, today is a day for watching the horse for future reference (just watch him sluice up now!!).
The name of said beast is KING OF PENTACLES Lingfield 4.20.
I was at Bath when this horse ran 11 days ago and he is a good-looking, big, scopey-type. I managed to have a word with his trainer Hughie Morrison and the vibes weren’t very positive, he suggested that the horse still had a lot to learn.
Well, he is in the right hands for that scenario. In my opinion, and I think quite a few others, Mr. Morrison is one of the best educators of a horse around. He will have the patience not to rush the horse, and if this horse has a future I’m sure that Hughie will see it to fruition.
On breeding, today’s distance of 10 furlongs would seem ideal, but it might take a drop into handicap company, a gelding operation and a few flights of hurdles before we see the best of this creature.
