The Battle of Stamford Bridge - Who Will Win?

April 28, 2008

In a game that neither team can afford to lose and Chelsea have to win, who will come out on top?? Tomorrow afternoon sees Chelsea entertainManchester United at 12.45 in a Premiership decider

Chelsea have an amazing record having not been beaten at home underAvram Grant and Jose Morinho in the Premier League, which amounts to not getting beat for over 4 years. They will almost certainly be withoutFrank Lampard who has recently lost his mother after being ill with pneumonia, but Michael Essien will be fresh after missing the Champions League semi-final with Liverpool due to suspension. Chelsea are very strong at the back with Carvalho and Terry and they have arguably thebest goal keeper in the world in Petr Cech who was in inspirational form against Liverpool. They also have many attacking options with Didier Drogba, Nicholas Anelka, Joe Cole, Ballack and Florent Malouda.
Manchester United on the other hand are likely to be without Nemanja Vidic, who has formed a very strong partnership alongside Rio Ferdinand.Wes Brown will most likely cover for him and he his a very able deputy.Manchester United have so many attacking options, its very difficult to see how they will line up because ideally a draw would suit them down to the ground. One thing that is for certain is that Rooney and Ronaldo will start, and they are likely to play Anderson and Carrick in the middle due to the speed that some of the Chelsea players have.

My prediction is that both teams will nullify each other, Chelsea are not very good at chasing teams, they can contain teams, but they have extreme difficulty in breaking them down, and in Manchester United you have the best defence in Europe. Therefore this game has a draw written all over it. I recommend 5 points on the draw at 11/5 with Coral and 3 points on 1-1 at 11/2 with Coral and if you open an account with Coral today you will receive a free £10 bet.
